I am thrilled. I was renewing a domain in GoDaddy. On a whim, I searched the letters HCA and discovered that the premium domain HCA.me was available! Six seconds later, I was the proud owner of the domain and working on this web page.
Why am I so excited about this acquisition?
The letters HCA stand for Health Care Advocate!
I am working on a free market approach to health care reform called The Medical Savings and Loan. This reform replaces insurance pools with privately held savings accounts (supplemented with loans and grants).
The program argues that people would get better care if they directly owned their health care resources and negotiated care directly with providers.
The program replaces Insurance Agents and Claims Adjusters with a new position called The Health Care Advocate.
In the insurance model, the Insurance Agent and Claims Adjuster work for the big insurance company. In the MS&L model, the advocate works directly for the policyholders. Just as many insurance agents own their own firm, the advocates are likely to own their own firms. They will have far greater leeway than insurance agents.
If this reform takes hold, then Health Care Advocacy will become an exciting new career path for people who want to start a business helping others.
So, put this domain in your favorite list. If Congress replaces the fiasco of ObamaCare with real free market reform, this humble little domain just might become the focal point of a new health care paradigm centered on the needs of the patient instead of one centered on the desires of the corporate magnates that own the health care pool.
